Music classes are invaluable for the growth and development for your child. Every child is born with an aptitude for music. Early childhood is the opportune time to develop this potential in an active, joyful and developmentally appropriate way. This aptitude diminishes if it is not actively nutured between the ages of birth and nine.
The Musikgarten curriculum is a holistic program. It developes the whole child not only musically but emotionally, physically, socially and cognitively as well. In Musikgarten classes we nuture the children's music aptitude by engaging them and their families through singing and movement activities which help attune the ear, refine their voice and develop a rhythmic body through which music can be expressed.
We sing, chant rhymes and play fingergames, clap, skip, hop, roll and jump. We use rhythm sticks and drums to keep the beat, we swing with scarves while we dance and accompony our songs with bells an shakers.
Older children learn to play simple Orff instruments, listen to stories and poems, and learn the building blocks of music theory that will be developed further in group piano classes.
Musikgarten is the only program that offers curricula for newborns through age ten, where children experience group piano instruction. It is based on a highly developed understanding of how children learn and grow not only musically but also as a whole.
Our classes are centered around the family. Class time is educational, fun, nurturing and purposeful.
As you familiarize yourself with our classes, we look forward to answering your questions and welcoming your family into our Musikgarten Studio.

"My children have enjoyed the Musikgarten program for many years. As toddlers, they loved the space and freedom to hear and practice rhythm with simple percussion instruments. As pre-schoolers, they had the oportunity to learn and sing music about different landscapes and their habitat and later from around the world. It was heartwarming to hear them humming and singing familiar and much-liked songs while laying in bed, in the car and many other spontaneous times. And now, as elementary-age piano students, they are thriving in the piano group program, putting their pre-K rhythm- and tonal training to good use. Both my son and daughter enjoy and benefit from the group piano setting, making music and playing along with other children. We love Musikgarten."

"Our son and daughter were introduced to Anja Scheidel's Musikgarten while still infants and have been experiencing the joys of making music ever since. Ms. Scheidel has a palpable love for music and has given our son and daughter the gift and joy of appreciating and creating music for the rest of their lives, The classes are thoughtful, well-structured, and delivered with compassion and patience. Our son, now in Keybboarding 1, is intuitively recognizing songs and patterns that he was exposed to as an infant, toddler, pre-schooler and pre -K student. It has been an absolute joy to watch. Thank you."
