Tammis Donovan started Happy Day Music in 2002. She is grateful to be living her lifelong dream of teaching what she is passionate about to children and people she cares greatly about! Tammis teaches over 100 children and families each week in Happy Day Music early childhood music and movement classes at area childcare centers including Bright Start Early Childhood Center, Building Blocks Daycare Center, Small Wonders Childcare, Cathance Children's Center, Tippy Toes Childcare, and New Meadows Childcare and Learning Center. She has taught previously through the Portland Conservatory of Music, Town of Harpswell, at HearMENow!, at Bowdoin College Children's Center, at Pine Tree Academy's Center for the Arts, and the Bath Area YMCA.
Tammis has taken many hours of training in early childhood music and movement teaching methods for children ages newborn through 8 y.o. from Musikgarten and Kindermusik International. She is a member of the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association, (ECMMA), the music education advocacy group, MusicFriends, and the Nature Action Collaborative for Children. As a student, Tammis played the oboe and won top awards for her performances in NYSSMA events. She sang in a church youth choir as well as singing in the UU Brunswick Church choir in more recent years. She is currently a member of the Merrymeeting Singers, an 8-member auditioned group based in the Brunswick, Maine region and also enjoys being part of the harmonic trio, Ambrosia.
Tammis's educational background includes an A.A.S. in Animal Science and a B.S. in Public Administration. Formerly a conference planner and education director for non-profit organizations, she works part-time as an academic department coordinator at Bowdoin College in addition to teaching early childhood music classes.
Tammis is the proud mother of Max, step-mom to Melissa and Lauren, and shares a poodle mix named Skipper and a cat named Captain.
