Class Descriptions

All babies are born with an aptitude for music. But research shows that their aptitude diminishes if it is not nurtured. The best way to nurture a child's music aptitude is through active music making. By singing and dancing for and with our children in a variety of tonalities, meters and styles we are helping our children reach their full music potential.

This class offers adults the opportunity to play with their babies in a musical setting, experiencing music and movement activities designed to delight the child and awaken his or her curiosity about music. By singing, dancing, bouncing, and rocking, the child's music aptitude is being carefully nurtured, laying the foundation for beat awareness, vocal production, and aural discrimination.

Activities include singing, bouncing songs, rocking songs, dances, finger plays, body awareness games and echoes.  Family materials shown below:
Semester 1:

Semester 2:

This class is adapted through our variation of activites for children birth to five.  There is lots of movement for those toddlers, while 3-5 year-olds will learn language skills and use their imaginations in fun new ways.  With the babies there are lots of fun, creative activities to help nurture and build their bond with you.

Each program is full of music, movement, imagination, and class time fun. The unique
music compositions on the CDs will enable children to explore walking and jumping, dancing and singing, playing simple instruments and many more concepts which are just right for your little movers and shakers!  Both children and parents will find that after just one class, they’ll look forward to many more! 
 
This book and music will capture your little ones attention with photos of children their own age and colorful illustrations that bring the songs and chants and rhymes to life. Everyone in the family will love the variety of music.

Fall semester: 
Classics like Hickory Dickory Dock and The Eency Weency Spider. Plus new favorites like Fiddle-De-De and Old Jeremiah. You'll hear fast-tempo music as well as calming, slower relaxing music. Family Materials include: Parent Book (48p) and CD with digital code

Spring semester:
Classics like Hot Cross Buns and London Bridge, plus time-honored nursery rhymes like Rub-a-dub-dub will excite your imagination. You'll hear fast-tempo music as well as calming, slower relaxing music.

A musical celebration of the four seasons of the year is the theme in this class. The first half of the year focuses on fall and winter.  Movement, singing, and speech lay a foundation for creative development via storytelling, poetry, play, dance, and more. Preschoolers will build on the rhythmic and tonal pattern awareness in music as well as continued exploration of a variety of musical instruments while tapping into the child ’s vivid imagination and building the child ’s growing independence and competencies. Listening skills are also developed through focused listening activities and guessing games with animal picture cards.

Fall semester:  Wind Dancers is the first family set in The Cycle of Seasons material ages 3-5 and offers you a collection of songs, sounds, poetry and stories, plus additional ideas to explore with your child. Family set includes a Parent Book (48p), 2 CDs, 12 Animal Cards in Cloth Bag
