Our Teachers

Cheryl Bansen grew up in Atlanta surrounded by music. As the daughter of two musicians, her music training started early, and she believes that children should have access to early musical experiences in order to build a lifelong appreciation. She began formal choral training at the age of 8 and has made choral singing a lifelong hobby. She has been a member of various choral groups both in the community and church settings. Cheryl has 8 years of private vocal training lending her the experience of being soprano soloist in various classical works such as Mabel in "Pirates of Penzance" , "The Messiah" by Handel & "Requiem" by Faure. In addition to singing, Cheryl also has a background in piano and flute. She holds a B.S. in Psychology and a Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia. After working in medical social work, Cheryl left the field to become a stay at home mother of her 2 children. She attended music and movement classes with her children and found this to be a passion. In 2013 she completed her MusikGarten Certification and began teaching. Cheryl has taught MusikGarten in several church settings and in Day Care classrooms. She was also given the opportunity to work with the MusikGarten Foundation to bring music into preschool classrooms. Cheryl moved to Belmont, NC in June 2019 where she lives with her husband and 2 children. She started Do Re Mi Music, LLC in order to bring the program she loves to her community. She believes that music is a lifelong gift and that families can build a special bond by experiencing music together.
