Policies

PARENT ORIENTATION/CONTINUING EDUCATION:
All parents are required to attend a Parent Orientation and/or Continuing Education session once per semester. These are one hour long and take place at the studio, times TBD. These are adult only. The parent orientation is designed to give you a better understanding of our curriculum and how the classes progress.

CLASS:
Please try to be on time. Being present during the "greeting" song affirms your child as a person; you won't want to miss that opportunity. 

Dress for moving and dancing! Dress in layers. This is a very active class! Be careful not to overdress the child. Always have a short sleeved light shirt as a bottom layer by default. Tights can be problematic as they are not as easy to remove as socks.  Wood laminate or tile flooring can be very slippery and often bare foot is the best option for the child.

Food, toys, or other "distractions" often cause problems rather than provide comfort when in the class environment. Please leave your childs toys in the car!

Pacifiers are discouraged. We welcome all vocal responses. If the child needs comfort, you can cuddle, stand (some children show this preference - to have their adult stand!) and/or if the child is very upset, you can leave the room or go outdoors until they calm...sometimes that does the trick. No explanation needed...your teacher and the other parents all understand....we've all been there!

OBSERVATION:
Understand that all children learn at different rates and in different ways. Some children will be quiet in class; others will be active. Some children will do everything perfectly later but not in class. As a parent, you know that every child is unique, so check your comparisons at the door and let the music work its magic!  You, as the adult, are expected to participate fully...unless the child needs you.

ABSENCES:
In general, we do not provide make-up classes. If you must be absent, please notify your teacher in advance whenever possible. We will miss you but expect that you will be listening to the music with your child daily throughout the week. The recording will be available. Only classes cancelled by the studio will be made-up, credited, or refunded.

CLASS SIZE:
We offer group music classes. To this end, we require a minimum of three students to enroll in a class before it offically forms. You will be informed by email/phone in the event the class you registered for has been cancelled due to lack of enrollment.
