Family Music - A Mixed Age Class -Saturday Mornings 10-10:45 (Birth - 5)45 minutes classes once a week

Family Music- A Mixed Age Class- Birth to 5 yrs

With Musikgarten’s curriculum, we invite you to play with music while we make new friends together!  When children experience music as an active part of their daily lives, their own pleasure in making music will begin to unfold.

According to Musikgarten's philosophy, positive contact and interaction with a caring adult is the single most important ingredient for a child's healthy development.  Nothing pleases very young children more than having a parent/caregiver share an experience with them.  Adults benefit as well, as they witness the magic of music, movement, and song and realize just how appropriate and enjoyable simple activities shared with their children can be.

OUR CLASSES features a rich collection of songs and chants.  Most of the songs in the collection are folksongs and seek to introduce a new generation to the roots of our musical heritage.

Each program is full of music, movement, imagination, and class time fun.   Both children and parents will find that after just one class, they’ll look forward to many more!

This class is designed for children ages birth to 5 yrs, unlike our other classes which are for children of like ages. We encourage both parents to attend with siblings for the price of one child's tuition.

Music for Babies - Saturday am 9:15-9:45 (Newborns - 18 Months)30 minute classes once a week for 15 weeks

Music for Babies~ Newborn to 18 mo.

All babies are born with an aptitude for music. But research shows that their aptitude diminishes if it is not nurtured. The best way to nurture a child's music aptitude is through active music making. By singing and dancing for and with our children in a variety of tonalities, meters and styles we are helping our children reach their full music potential.

This class offers adults the opportunity to play with their babies in a musical setting, experiencing music and movement activities designed to delight the child and awaken his or her curiosity about music. By singing, dancing, bouncing, and rocking, the child's music aptitude is being carefully nurtured, laying the foundation for beat awareness, vocal production, and aural discrimination.

Activities include singing, bouncing songs, rocking songs, dances, finger plays, body awareness games, and echoes.
An adult must accompany each child.

Tuition:$94.50/Semester

Music for Toddlers - Friday am 10:15-10:45 (15 months - 3 Years)30 minute classes once a week for 15 weeks

Music for Toddlers~18 mo. to 3 yrs

Develop a strong musical bond with your toddler while singing, chanting, moving, dancing, listening, and playing simple instruments. These activities bridge the natural connection between music and movement while enhancing and further developing your child's musical aptitude and listening abilities. Classes provide an active, hands-on musical environment appropriate for this age. An adult must accompany each child.

Specialists agree that early exposure to music plays an important role in children's emotional, intellectual and social development. Developmentally appropriate activities build fundamental musical skills and help prepare children for a wide range of music and school activities.

Pre-Keyboard I: Music Makers at Home Mondays 4-5 (4-5)15 week session 60 minute classes
This class is designed to accommodate the 5 and 6 year old and is a perfect follow-up for children who have completed Music Makers: At Home in the World. In this class, children explore the music, dances and stories of different cultures. As always, the key ingredients are singing, listening, playing instruments, lots of movement, and tonal and rhythm patterns. Through echoing patterns, the children will build a vocabulary of musical phrases which they can recognize aurally and visually, which leads to an understanding of musical notation. At the end of the year, the children will be introduced to the keyboard, using the same method they'll use in Music Makers: At the Keyboard next year!

Materials include a CD, a map, song pages, and notation games. Children will receive 2 packets throughout the 15 weeks.
