We will be making some of our own snacks as they would have in that time period, playing games such as marbles, making corn husk people, shooting arrows and learning some of the most important songs of that time period (including a crazy one named “Jargon” by Wlliam Billings.)

Music such as Sousa marches, Ragtime, Civil War tunes, African-American songs.

Composers include Scott Joplin, King of Ragtime; John Philip Sousa, March King; Stephen Foster (the beginning of popular music).
Special appearances by American Girl dolls - Kirsten, Addy, Josefina.
Experience this time of change — adding 32 states, doubling the size of the United States, the Industrial Revolution (steamboats, trains, typewriters, sewing machines, ranges for cooking, telephone, phonograph) and the Civil War.
Important songs include “The Star-Spangled Banner”, “My Country ’Tis of Thee” and many more.

Let's celebrate the 250 year birthday of the United States by learning important songs from its history. We will be working on sight-reading, using Lead Sheets, and understanding Chords. The "beloved" Mystery Song from piano class will make an appearance! Plus snacks, stories, and activities from a different time period each day.
Ukulele - Beginning/Intermediate players. You may use a Studio Ukulele if you do not have one. Please request that when registering.
Piano - Students who have completed at least 2 years of instruction. (If taking piano in my Studio, students who have completed Piano 2 and have not completed Grade 3 may be considered.)
Grade 3 (completed) through Teens. Former Piano Students especially encouraged to join--brush up your skills!

Your child will explore the Keyboard/Piano, without needing to commit to a semester of lessons, in a fun, relaxing setting, and the teacher will give you advice as to your child's readiness for piano lessons. We will be singing, dancing, drumming, playing musical games and playing the piano together. Snacks are included.
Materials include workbook and Digital Download of the songs included in class. MusicLink Scholarship would deduct the Materials Fee only.
