Jennifer Rockwell

Jennifer Rockwell has a bachelors in elementary and music education from Quincy University and a Masters of Music education from Illinois State University.  While at university her focus was instrumental instruction. Jennifer’s major instrument was the bass clarinet but she also spent several years studying the bassoon and tuba.  She also played with Quincy Universities percussion ensemble.  One of her fondest memories of that time is playing the tenor paper bag in a Paper Bag Quartet.

Jennifer has taught elementary general music for 25 years.  So while her educational training is instrumental, her practical experience is vocal.  Whether students are focused an instrumental or vocal studies Jennifer integrates student’s goals with a focus on improving foundational skills such as breathing, posture, embouchure, sight reading, and aural skills.

Jennifer lives in Springfield with her husband and daughter.  There is nothing she enjoys more than the strapping on her helmet and taking out her bicycle for a ride.  She has completed two 100 mile century rides and countless metric century (100 km) rides.  Her newest bicycle adventure is bicycle touring where she carries everything she needs with her on her bicycle as she travels from place to place.
