This first of sequential offerings in Music Makers. MM Home is the first, MM World is the second and then starts MM at the Keyboard. Students must be in at least 1st grade to start MM at the Keyboard. Enjoy songs and stories of Our Home Place, and also the homes of inhabitants of the Woodlands, Meadows and Marshes. This is the first of a 2-year course leading to true music literacy - an excellent foundation for any musical instruction. This course includes singing, creative and structured movement, ensemble playing, focused listening and ear training, movement games, introduction to music reading and writing, dancing, storytelling, musical exploration, and improvisation. Much emphasis is put on patterns, both melodic and rhythmic, using solfeggio and the Gordon rhythmic language.
Materials include a CD (or digital download), a poster, song pages, and notation games. Children will receive 2 packets each semester. The recorded music is essential to the class.
